If you’re a Club Nintendo member, you may have received an email from Nintendo with the subject line “Attention Gold & Platinum members! Special reward announced!” The email says the following…

“We are happy to announce the Elite Status rewards for those who obtained Gold or Platinum status before June 30, 2009 for the 2009 Club Nintendo year. These exclusive rewards, available only to Gold and Platinum Members, are Nintendo’s way of saying THANK YOU for your continued support!”

Gold or Platinum Member status is based on the number of Coins earned in a Club Nintendo year. Each Club Nintendo year begins on July 1 and ends on June 30. If you earn 300 Coins during a Club Nintendo year you will reach Gold status. Earn 600 Coins during a Club Nintendo year and reach Platinum status! If you are part of a Club Nintendo family account, the Coins that each family member earns are combined, so you have a better chance to reach Gold or Platinum status.

If you’ve achieved Platinum Status, you can choose to have one of two rewards; Doc Lewis’s Punch-Out!! or a Mario Hat. If you have achieved Gold Status you have the choice of redeeming a Club Nintendo for 2010.

Doc Lewis’s Punch-Out!! is an exclusive Club Nintendo title that can be downloaded through the Wii Shop Channel. In this title, you (Little Mac) step into the ring to square off against your mentor and coach, Doc Lewis. You must prove to Doc that you have what it takes to become the World Video Boxing Association World Champion. This title is only available for the USA and Canada. The ESRB Rating is currently pending but I’m sure it will be rated E for everyone.

The Mario Hat is a true-to-life replica of the iconic red hat worn by Mario. You can keep it as a collector’s item or even wear it if you so desire. The hat has an elastic band so it should fit most people. Small children might have a problem with it being too big, however.

Lastly, members that have achieved Gold Status get a chance to claim a Club Nintendo Original Calendar for 2010. Official images for the calendar are unknown at the present time but I am sure you will be favorites such as Super Smash Bros. Brawl, Mario Kart Wii, Animal Crossing and a few others.
